Middle School Athletics Program: We welcome all students to participate in the Providence Academy Middle School Athletics Program. Sports are an excellent way to grow emotionally as an individual. Through participation students develop skills in time management, problem solving, delegation, motivation, and team building.
At Providence Academy, we begin organized athletics offerings in the Middle School to students in grades 5-8. The goal of PA’s Middle School athletics program is for students to have fun, make new friends, develop team skills, and get some exercise. The level of participation is recreational by nature. Students looking for a more strenuous experience should seek out opportunities in their own neighborhood or to organize a travel team of PA students.
Interscholastic sports are introduced to students for the first time in Middle School. These teams practice several days a week and have games after school and on weekends. The goals for PA’s Middle School athletics program is for students to have fun, make new friends, as well as to help them develop a sense of team play and good sportsmanship. At this level, participation, rather than winning, is our policy.
Teams will be formed at each grade level and as directed by student interest. All interested students will have the opportunity to participate on a team if there is adequate interest at that age and/or skill level.
By Minnesota State High School league rule state that seventh and eighth grade students may try out and perhaps participate on a Varsity team. Participation on any athletic team, at either the Middle or Upper School level, is dependent upon a student’s ability to maintain all academic and social expectations set by the school. Middle School administration reserves the right to suspend participation should academic performance or social behavior falter.
